The Promise
_ When someone makes a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to keep something, he should not be unfaithful. Every word that goes out of his mouth he must do (Numbers 30:3).
_ When you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not delay in fulfilling it
; for the Lord your God will surely require it; If you do not fulfill it, you will be guilty. But if you do not promise, you will not commit sin. - When your lips have promised the Lord your God a willing promise, be careful to fulfill the word that goes out of your mouth. there (Deuteronomy 23: 21 - 23)
_ Make a vow and pay it back to the Lord your God; Let all who are around Him bring an offering to the fearful One (Psalm 76:11).
_ I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His people (Psalm 116:14 #18)
_ When you make a vow to God, do not be slow to fulfill it; for He takes no pleasure in fools. So pay what you promise – It is better not to swear than to promise and not pay (Ecclesiastes 5:4-5).
_ But I tell you, do not swear at all: Do not swear by heaven, for it is God's throne; - Do not swear by the land, because it is God's footstool; Do not swear by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king. Nor do you swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. But you must say: Yes, yes; no no. As for what others say, it comes from the devil (Matthew 5:34-37).
_ First of all, my brothers, do not swear, not only by heaven, not by earth, nor by anything else; But if it is right, say yes, and if not, say no, so that you will not be judged (James 5:12).
